Thank you so much for your support throughout the year of 2019! We made lots of improvements in our program and helped a great number of survivors reach the next step in their independence. Here are some highlights from throughout the year:
JANUARY AND FEBRUARY 2019
As the new year begins, two survivors reach one year working their program, one resident achieves six months into their program, and one begins their journey. We asked for your prayers for our women’s continued sobriety, as this can be a difficult road for anyone to pursue, and for their continued healing and drive. Your giving heart means the world to our AJP community.
MARCH 2019
We celebrated yet another graduation from the Leap to Confidence program, which allows our women to pursue employment opportunities. We also honored the successful name change of one of our Grace House Residents. For survivors of exploitation, changing your name can be very important as it allows you privacy from former abusers and gives them a fresh start to their new life. Your consistent support provides comfort and opportunity.
APRIL 2019
The residents at Grace House attended a women’s retreat. They were invited and sponsored by a local church and shared in fellowship and faith with other women from the church. We are also proud of one of our newest residents for she has courage to testify against her trafficker. It takes lots of courage to do this and though it is often necessary, testifying against abusers can be mentally and emotionally exhausting, so please keep her in your prayers.
MAY 2019
“This program has taught me how to cope with everyday struggles as well as past traumatic events. I have been able to gain a sense of stability with the structure of the program. I have completed various courses throughout my time that has boosted my confidence and self esteem. I just took on my first job offer where I will be working part time. I could not have come this far without the love and support that Alabaster Jar Project has given me!” -Grace House Resident, 8 Months in program. Sponsoring YOUR survivor sisters is a long term investment that generates lifelong positive results for the women we serve.
JUNE 2019
Our survivor sisters completed another successful Dale Carnegie training on communication. They also become connected with either a vocational rehabilitation coach or personal career planner, and in some cases, both. One survivor received extensive dental work that has a huge impact on her self-esteem as she is starting to glow with confidence. By sponsoring these women, you become part of the message of hope and paying it forward.
JULY 2019
This month, survivors began participating in several curricula that will help them reach emotional and mental self-sufficiency, including a trauma-addressing course and relapse prevention. When you sponsor your survivor sisters, you are investing in their independence.
AUGUST 2019
Grace House Residents participated in a spiritual wellness retreat. They each were pampered with spa treatments and had plenty of time to connect with each other in both fellowship and worship. Sponsoring your survivor sisters puts them in the position to succeed.
SEPTEMBER 2019
“My accomplishment is my freedom. I’m not my past. I am who I choose to be. No longer a slave of fear nor evil. I belong to the Most High for I am forgiven and free from my abuser. I am continuing my healing by working my program. My goals are to finish my high school diploma and work towards my college degree. Most importantly being rooted to Christ I will build my life on the right foundation so I can withstand any storm. To be reunited with my children and to be a good role model.” -Grace House Resident, 5 Months in Program
OCTOBER 2019
One resident ran her credit report and got her review back from the board of education, so she is now paying a low monthly rate and is free to pursue higher education. One survivor reached six months in our program, so she unlocked more privileges and responsibilities. One resident moves out of Grace House into a healthy next step as she enrolls in Cosmetology School.
NOVEMBER 2019
We are grateful for the fellowship at our Thanksgiving gathering at support group. Both Grace House Residents and other survivors in the area ate a Thanksgiving meal, danced, sang songs, and shared what they are grateful for.
DECEMBER 2019
We have four survivors with us in our residential program ranging from eight months to a few weeks. One resident moved to transitional housing after being awarded disability, and one survivor GRADUATED! Congratulations, sister! We are so proud of you.
